Eyes Dry

You were wearing your bluejeans, the ones I love. You had your hair pulled back and it looked good, but it always does. Your eyes were shining like the flames in my heart. Your lips were on fire, but that's nothing new. That's the last time I'll ever kiss you. That's the last time I'll ever let you rip my heart in two. You took a piece of my soul, but it's too late. I never want to see you again. You threw me a smile. You were winking your eye. You said that you loved me, but that was the wine. I've cried one too many times 'cause I've tried one too many times. This time I'll keep my eyes dry.

Elijah rode his horse toward the sun. He left without a word to anyone. The light slowly faded into black. His compass steady westward, no turning back. Elijah please come home, my heart calls to you. You left me all alone, oh Elijah where are you? You pass in my dreams every night. I don't think I have the strength to fight. I can't stop the hurting you've caused in me. The torment and the pain won't leave me be. It's been about 16 years and a million tears. Elijah is only a memory to me.

Is one girl worth the world? With a smile that shines as brightly as the sun, I don't think I'll ever be done with her, but is one girl worth the world? With hair that hangs above her like a halo, I don't think I'll ever get over her, but is one girl worth the world? All the sights and smells and sounds, all the things I've found. Every city, every town, every look around. Are gone the moment I get asked in, but I keep asking is one girl worth the world? With eyes that shine like fires in the night, I know everything is alright with her, but is one girl worth the world? All the reasons and the signs, all the things I find. Every season, every sun, everything I've done. Are gone the moment I'm around her. I know I've found her. The one girl worth the world.

I said I didn't need you, but I didn't mean that. You are the only one who understands. I know I lied and baby I'm sorry for that, but I was taught to be that way. I remember rainy steps and the tears were rolling down your face. Up the stairs and I walked away. Three years and two hearts later I'm a crazymaker. I could lie again or pretend, but it's plain to see my heart's on fire. I'm trying to tell you, but you're not listening to me. Or maybe you've found someone new? I know I'm late and I'm real sorry for that, but I have always been that way.
